Fire Repairs
When a lighting strike nearly burned this 1860 farmhouse to the ground, Alexander Nicholson convinced the owner the home could be saved. Having housed multiple generations of the family, the home held many memories and some unique structural elements worthy of saving from the bulldozers. The home was gutted to the studs, which were treated with an antifungal spray. Damaged members were replaced. Old stairs and floors were salvaged, as were 150-year-old handrails and three cut-stone fireplaces. Today the family’s historic home is outfitted with 21st-century finishes and safety features.
