This new stone house overlooks hundreds of acres of western-Albemarle farmland from a stunning oak-lined hilltop. Alexander Nicholson completed construction of the house in 2023. While the home was designed by Sutphin Architecture, the owner played a unique role acting as interior designer, selecting every last detail that truly makes the home a masterpiece.

Alexander Nicholson built the house to last generations. The stone exterior is supported by a structural steel frame — incredibly unusual for residential architecture. Other special features include gigantic oak ceiling beams that were carried inside by a team of 15 men, and fluted wooden paneling designed to mimic the columns of Greek monuments. The house combines the best of ancient building traditions with modern construction science.
