Alexander Nicholson was founded in 1980 by Michael Alexander Cernik and Jack Nicholson Stoner, two University of Virginia graduates and long-time residents of the Charlottesville community. After many years, company leadership passed to Dan Fagan and Allan Pettit. They continue to lead Alexander Nicholson towards Jack and Mike’s vision of a company that exists to serve its community, employees, and clients.

History

Along with a group of other Virginia builders, Jack Stoner and Mike Cernik created the Building Goodness Foundation, a nonprofit construction organization that supports community-based initiatives in the U.S. and abroad. Alexander Nicholson employees have volunteered with the foundation to build homes, health clinics, vocational centers and other facilities in Virginia, Colorado, Mississippi, as well as in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Haiti, Liberia, and Nicaragua.
